Save the date for CI Days 2012!
When: Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 8
Where: Rackham Building
U-M’s Office of Research Cyberinfrastructure (ORCI) is the host of Cyberinfrastructure Days, a free, annual community-building conference. This event is typically held in November, and is attended by more than 200 members of the cyberinfrastructure community at U-M and beyond.
This is an opportunity for faculty, students, and staff from across campus to:
- share information and ideas about advanced, integrated computation and information resources and their use in research and learning
- learn from nationally renowned leaders
- hear about the future of CI-enabled discovery and learning
- attend hands-on tutorials, presentations, and panels
- present research and learn about others’ research at a poster session (with cash prizes).
History of CI Days
The Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Days initiative was initially funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2010. These events at research universities across the country sought to advance understanding of, planning for, and implementation of cyberinfrastructure in the participating institutions.
The CI Days program was organized and supported by a consortium of associations working to advance use of information technology in research and higher education, including:
- NSF
- EDUCAUSE
- Internet2
- Minority-Serving Institution Cyberinfrastructure Empowerment Coalition (MSI-CIEC)
- National LambdaRail
- Open Science Grid
- SURA
- TeraGrid
The U-M sponsors for this conference were Daniel E. Atkins, the W.K. Kellogg Professor of Community Informatics, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and associate vice-president for research cyberinfrastructure, and Laura Patterson, chief information officer and associate vice president for Information and Technology Services.
